ARRIVAL TIMES:

Dancers to arrive at the Bella Rose Arts Centre on Saturday December 6th by 4:15pm

  • Some dancers are in multiple numbers, and may need to change backstage. Please send them in with their second costume ON A HANGER so that it can be hung in the quick change room. Volunteers will be available to assist with changes as needed.

  • Dancers should not wear jewelry, nail polish or flashy hair accessories (unless required).
  • Make-up should be applied so that the dancers do not look washed out on stage with the lighting on them. They should wear make-up much darker than they would in public! Dancers under the age of 6 don’t need very much, just a little blush and lipstick, and eyebrows filled in with a pencil if they have light eyebrows. Dancers who wish to have a stronger stage makeup look can add in a dark smoky eye, black winged liner, and mascara.

  • Hair should be slicked back into the set hairstyle for the class, and hair sprayed so there are no flyaways or frizz.

DROPPING YOUR DANCER OFF:

Dancers are to be brought to the backstage door. They will be signed in by staff and seated with their class in one of two dressing rooms to warm up and stretch before going onstage.

Dancers aged 10+ are able to come backstage alone, but must check themselves in so that we know they have arrived.

DURING THE SHOW:

Please remain seated while the dancers are onstage. Should you need to leave the auditorium during the show, please do so in between dances, so as not to distract those onstage or interfere with the cameraperson that is livestreaming the show.

Dancers will remain backstage for the duration of the show. We will have instructors, staff and volunteer members backstage with the dancers to help them practice, to keep them entertained, and cared for.

We do not have staffing numbers to facilitate dancers being picked up during a show, and ask that parents do not come backstage unless it is an emergency. Often, with younger dancers, when a parent comes backstage to ask to pick up a classmate, the dancers left behind will become emotional and upset, wondering why they cannot also leave to see their parents.

Dancers will all be coming onstage together at the end of the show for a final curtain call.

Flash photography is strictly prohibited. It can be very distracting onstage, and disorienting to dancers.

The recital will be livestreamed, and then sent out to families after the show. We ask that no videos be taken – this can obstruct the view of the individual sitting behind you. We are providing the digital copy of the livestream at no cost to families.

PICKING YOUR DANCER UP

Dancers will be brought out from the backstage area to the curtains for pickup in the order they danced. ie if your dancer was in the first number, they will be the first to be released to parents. If your dancer is in multiple routines, they will come out with their final routine, as that is the class they will be sitting with backstage. Dancers aged 10+ will be allowed to leave to find their parents on their own, and will be signed out by staff.

Thank you so much to all of our amazing dance families. We cannot wait for the show!
