How can I find out about your COVID-19 related safety plan?
**As of June 2, 2020**
We have staggered our classes to minimize traffic in the hallways, and to allow for time between each class for sanitization of the studio. We will also have a main entrance and main exit, with signage to denote which one to use. Parents will be asked to sign their children in at the main door, and will have to confirm that no one in their household is currently experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms.
Should one of our students, or their family members be sick, we ask that they do not attend class in person, and rather attend class online via Zoom for that day, and call 811 for further recommendations.
We will be following the safety procedures put in place by our provincial government. Class sizes will be limited, as recommended by Public Health, and our studio will be sectioned out to respect social distancing. We will be putting a huge emphasis on individual development until the time that social distancing rules are relaxed by our government.
There is a COVID-19 Task Force within Motion Dance Centre, which evaluates and updates our policy on a weekly basis. Changes will be communicated via email to all families during the dance year.
We have also updated our refund policy to reflect challenges that we anticipate may arise due to the on-going pandemic. Please see below

Students are encouraged to attend class in the way that allows them to feel safest. If a student prefers to wear a mask, they are supported. If a student chooses not to wear a mask, they are also supported. Gloves are treated the same way. We are also offering both in studio, and online classes to ensure that there are options for all comfort levels. Please note – should a student register for online classes, and want to transition to in person classes, our administrative staff is happy to make that change for you in the month following your request.
How do I choose which class is right?
While our website shows descriptions of each class, we suggest speaking directly with a member of our team. We can help you choose the best option for you and your family.
Do I have to register for the full year?
We offer many different options at Motion Dance Centre. You can register per term, which is a great way to try out different classes, however when you register for the entire year we offer a great savings on your tuition!
What payment options do you offer?
We currently are only offering monthly payments, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We offer a number of methods:
1. Credit or Visa Debit cards can be placed on file for automatic recurring payments.
2. EMT’s can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
3. Cash payments can be made in the office during office hours. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we ask that any payments in the office be paid in exact change.
Do I need to have previous experience to register?
No! Anyone with the desire to dance is welcome at Motion Dance Centre. We encourage you to reach out to our team for help selecting which course would be best for you! (Adult or Child)
What is the Refund Policy?
Merchandise purchased within our studio may be exchanged or refunded within 15 days of purchase as long as the item is returned with original packaging and in like-new condition. Tights are not eligible for exchange or refund if opened.
Tuition fees, registration fees, and costume fees are non-refundable. Where applicable, exam fees and competition fees are also considered non-refundable once paid.
Non-Competitive Single Term Students
Once registered for a term, all fees are due. Should a student choose not to return for a second term, Motion Dance Centre requires notification prior to the first class in the next term. Should notification not be given that your child will not be returning before the first class in the new term, all tuition fees will be due regardless.
Non-Competitive Full Year Students
Registering for a year in full provides a discount on tuition. Should a student be unable to finish out the year long commitment due to medical reasons or family relocation, their account will revert to a term based pricing structure, and all fees for the term they are currently participating in will be due in full.
Competitive classes are considered a full year program, and the only ability to withdraw from a competitive team is due to a documented medical issue, or family relocation.
COVID-19 Related Policy as of June 2, 2020
In the event that Motion Dance Centre experiences a government mandated shut down due to COVID-19, all In Studio non-competitive students will join the Online Instruction students, and have their monthly tuition billing adjusted accordingly. All competitive students will be taken online, and have a fair equivalent change made to monthly tuition billing. We will endeavor to hold online classes on the regular studio schedule unless there are extenuating circumstances beyond our control.
Should Motion Dance Centre experience a government mandated shut down due to COVID-19 that extends beyond 31 days, we will offer families the opportunity to “pause” their account payments until such time that we can continue with In Studio classes, or to continue to participate in Online Instruction.
In the case that Motion Dance Centre is unable to offer Online Learning for any reason during the initial 31 day period, any tuition credits due to undelivered classes will be placed on a dancer’s account. There will be no cash refunds.
Where applicable, competition fees and exam fees will be considered non-refundable in the event of events not taking place due to COVID-19.
If there is a concern please reach out to Artistic Director, Sara Corkum. Fees may, in some circumstances be transferred to another class.
Can I rent studio space?
Absolutely. We have Birthday Party and Studio Rental packages. Please reach out to the office for more information and to book your time.
